ASLRRA Adds Wi-Tronix to Exclusive Member Discount Program

WASHINGTON, March 5, 2025 – Today, the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA) announces its newest Member Discount Program preferred provider, Wi-Tronix. Wi-Tronix is ASLRRA’s Tier 1 exclusive partner for digital onboard solutions. The company’s Violet Edge system with on-board hardware and cloud-based information storage and retention offers short line railroads the tools to operate locomotives smarter, safer, and more efficiently.

“The Violet Edge solution provided by Wi-Tronix will assist our short line members in tracking the performance of their locomotive fleets. With real-time remote access to critical data, operators can monitor locomotive health, manage fuel consumption, and record events to ensure compliance and optimize performance. Proactive alerts help reduce downtime and maintenance costs while improving fleet reliability.

The Violet Edge solution includes locomotive installed hardware with options for adding video and compliance tracking. The Violet 830 hardware provides real-time locomotive tracking capabilities along with live monitoring of fuel usage, fuel monitoring, and excess idle reporting. This series also monitors for track conditions, weather, and obstructions, and complies with regulations.

The Violet 800 series hardware includes all the functions of the Violet 830 and is also an FRA-approved event recorder (ER), digital video recorder (DVR), and PTC recorder. This series of Violet is equipped for camera configuration, so it also can see real time camera recordings, allowing for immediate incident response.

As each railroad has unique pain points, Wi-Tronix offers a “base” IoT Platform Hosting Package with each Violet recorder along with “a la carte” packages, including safety, emissions, compliance and maintenance packages.
